The Tagre Law Office was delighted to participate in the Disability Resource Agency for Independent Living (DRAIL) Ability Resource Fair that was held on September 25, 2015 at the Howard Training Center.
DRAIL’s mission is to empower persons with disabilities to achieve greater independence and is one of 29 Centers for Independent Living throughout the state. DRAIL’s services cover 6 counties including Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne and Mariposa. Their core services consist of Information and Referral, Peer Counseling, Advocacy, and Independent Living Skill training. In addition they also offer Assistive Technology, Benefits advising and the Social Security Work Incentives Planning and Assistance program. All of their services are geared toward helping those with disabilities achieve goals of greater independence while maintaining choice and control in their daily life.
During the Fair, Attorney Pablo Tagre presented a 45 minute workshop entitled, “Plan for a Loved One With Special Needs.” The workshop touched on general issues concerning special needs trusts, how to enhance the quality of life of a loved one with special needs, how to create an effective plan for a loved one, how to protect a loved one with special needs from predators, planning for appropriate housing, and other important subjects related to special or supplemental needs planning.
